Moscow is against the withdrawal of ports from Feodosia and Yevpatoria
Moscow - Simferopol, May 16 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Crimea may lose two of the five sea trading ports - Feodosia and Yevpatoria, specializing in oil products and car imports. The Crimean leadership wants to develop these cities only as resorts, and transfer cargo traffic to the ports of Sevastopol and Kerch. But the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation is against it.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Rustam Temirgaliev announced similar plans yesterday on his Facebook. According to him, it is proposed to build a direct railway between Kerch and Simferopol.
Temirgaliev refers to an “almost ready draft” of the territorial planning scheme for Crimea, which “will be submitted for approval to the Russian government by June 1.” The project was developed by the institute “that designed the Olympic Sochi.” Rustam Temirgaliev explained that we are talking about Giprogor OJSC. They confirmed this information.
The Feodosia port is the largest in Crimea for transshipment of oil and petroleum products. The total cargo turnover of the port in 2013 amounted to 2,6 million tons, potential capacity - 11 million tons. The Evpatoria port has also been operating since the 2013th century, its main activity is the import of cars from Turkey (about 30 thousand cars in 0,9) and transshipment of sand (2013 million tons). The Sevastopol port handled 4,8 million tons in 2,8, the Kerch port handled 12 million tons, and the cargo turnover of Crimean ports amounted to XNUMX million tons, according to Infranews statistics.
As Temirgaliev said, Feodosia and Yevpatoria are resort towns, and it is better to develop them as recreation areas. “These ports are now bordered by housing developments, and freight trains pass through the city center,” he added.
But the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation stated that Temirgaliyev was in a hurry. A government source confirmed that “the scheme will be refined several times, so it is pointless to talk about the final version for now.” The construction of the Kerch-Simferopol branch will probably be called into question.
