“We didn’t care about Crimea. We will remain in this position forever until international law is fully restored,” Füle said during the 11th annual Yalta European Strategy meeting.
Fule also talked about how he communicated with Maidan protesters in the winter, how he saw “beaten people and police officers who tried to carry out the orders of their leaders.”
“What is Maidan. First of all, it was about dignity. They came out for a better future for the country. Maidan reminded that the value of democracy should not be forgotten. Ukraine wanted to develop closer relations with Europe. Instead of respect and acceptance - in no case at the expense of Russia - Moscow decided to create a confrontation, creating the most difficult situation in Europe since the Second World War,” says Fule.
“We will not stop defending the freedom of elections of Ukrainians and agree to the logic of spheres of influence. Is it realistic to divide Europe? Realistic. Our European house is broken and now the time has come to repair it not at anyone’s expense, but with the participation of all people,” he said.
In addition, the European Commissioner expressed “strong support for the people in the East who have endured so much.”
“Our thoughts are with you. We don't manage revolutions. There is no intention and no possibility. But we have the political will and desire to help people,” Fule said.
Let us remind you that today the 11th annual meeting “Yalta European Strategy” opens in Kyiv, the founder of which is Victor Pinchuk. The previous 10 times the meetings took place at the Livadia Palace.
