Moscow and Ankara agreed to accept Mir cards in Turkish hotels
Turkey will create conditions for the presence in hotels of terminals that accept cards of the Russian Mir system.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak stated this during a conversation with journalists following a meeting of the co-chairs of the Russian-Turkish intergovernmental commission, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We also discussed the possibility of making payments in Russian rubles or Turkish lira, and the operation of the Mir card in hotels in the Republic of Turkey. We agreed that banks would accept cards and agreed that conditions would be created for the availability of the necessary terminals in hotels. We are interested in Mir cards being used and payment mechanisms working,” TASS quotes the Deputy Prime Minister.
“We are not talking about the number of banks, but about the availability of infrastructure so that a person can come up and have an ATM that accepts the Mir card, but it doesn’t matter which bank it is. Therefore, we talked about the fact that the infrastructure of the relevant banks should be expanded: these are ATMs, terminals, and so on,” Novak explained.
In addition, according to him, in order to maintain the tourist flow, Moscow and Ankara agreed to increase the number of flights, both from the Russian Federation and from Turkey.
“Agreements were reached to increase the number of flights, both from Turkish Airlines and from our companies that will fly. And this will provide the necessary number of flights for the tourist flow,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
