Moscow doubts Zelensky's stability
The Normandy Four may meet before the end of this year, but one should not expect any breakthrough from this meeting.
Russian political scientist Alexey Chesnakov, who is considered close to the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov, writes about this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the leadership of Ukraine does not fully control the situation in the country, and its position is unstable.
“Holding a summit before the end of the year cannot be ruled out. However, we can hardly expect any breakthroughs that could radically change the situation. The existing disagreements between Kyiv and Donbass regarding a number of issues, primarily of a political nature, and the difficult internal political situation in Ukraine do not contribute to significant steps in the settlement process.
Moreover, a number of recent statements by Kyiv officials and politicians do not indicate that Ukraine intends to consistently fulfill its obligations, and Kyiv’s position does not seem confident and stable.
This creates additional risks for the further negotiation process, and given the global distrust of the parties to each other, no one, including Zelensky, can guarantee that the decisions made will not be revised,” writes Chesnakov.
