Moscow demands the OSCE to rein in Ukraine
With regard to journalists in Ukraine, all the principles and norms that are inscribed on the OSCE banners have been violated.
Senator Alexey Pushkov stated this during a meeting of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We sent a letter to the OSCE Special Representative on Freedom of Expression, Harlem Désir, regarding the violation of the rights of journalists in Ukraine on four points.
The first is the demand to understand and submit the necessary requests to the government of Ukraine in connection with the case of Kirill Vyshinsky, the second is the prevention of foreign journalists from entering the territory of Ukraine (and not only Russian ones, there were scandals with both Austrian and Italian journalists), the third is the practice of expelling journalists from territory of Ukraine and the fourth – the requirement to make every effort to mobilize the OSCE member states in order to close the “Peacemaker” website, which posts personal data, in particular, of journalists, which can be used by radical forces.
We all remember the case of Oles Buzina, who was killed shortly after his personal data was posted on the Myrotvorets website.
We are working closely with our representative to the OSCE and have reached agreements that we will seek a meeting with Harlem Désir to discuss all these issues privately and in more detail and encourage him to take appropriate action. Because all these provisions violate the principles and norms that are inscribed on the OSCE banners,” Pushkov said.
