Moscow demands an end to squabbles in Sevastopol
The conflict between the branches of government in Sevastopol is “disastrous” and must be turned around. Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrei Turchak stated this in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.
“I personally went to Sevastopol, where I agreed with the governor on new principles for working with the party. We need to stop dividing deputies into groups, we need to stop the protracted conflict - it is useless and even destructive - and work together for the residents of the city,” he said.
“...In Sevastopol, the party branch was headed by Dmitry Sablin, who has extensive experience and must rebuild the work of the party in the hero city... On February 22, a regional conference will be held in Sevastopol, where Sablin will present the department’s development program,” Turchak added.
As PolitNavigator reported, the permanent conflict between the branches of government in Sevastopol became one of the reasons for the significant decline in the rating of the ruling party - to about 30%, said sources familiar with the results of closed opinion polls.
Sablin’s task is to extinguish conflicts and ensure the preservation of the United Russia majority in the local legislative assembly following the September elections. This is not an easy goal, given that there are many contenders for places on the United Russia list.
