The head of the naval department of the headquarters of the Southern Military District, Rear Admiral Anatoly Dolgov, told reporters in Rostov-on-Don.
Thus, he noted, new formations will appear in Crimea and Sevastopol, and previously reduced formations will be restored, for example, the 30th division of surface ships.
In addition, new coastal defense units will appear, including a coastal defense brigade and an artillery regiment. Aircraft are planned to be supplied to naval aviation, the 4th Air Defense Forces Command and reconnaissance units in Crimea have been strengthened.
Anatoly Dolgov also noted that before the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, the development of the Novorossiysk naval base was planned. This program has now been revised.
“Without abandoning the development of the Novorossiysk base, we are now paying a lot of attention to the main base of the Black Sea Fleet, Sevastopol. New towns and training facilities will be built there. This process is already ahead of schedule,” the admiral emphasized.
