Moscow sees right through Zelensky – Lavrov
Russia will do everything to support the implementation of the Minsk process in Donbass.
However, due to Kiev’s failure to fulfill its social and economic obligations, Moscow will be forced to support the people of the Donbass republics, driven into a dead end.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov during the all-Russian youth forum “Territory of Meanings,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We will do everything that depends on us, within the framework of the agreements that were reached in Minsk in February 2015 and which were unanimously approved by the UN Security Council. When they say that any step by Russia in relations with these republics is a violation of the Minsk agreements, this is a lie.
The Minsk agreements do not prohibit supporting the socio-economic situation of these territories. On the contrary, it contains demands for Kyiv, and it has signed up to these demands: to ensure economic interaction, the payment of all social benefits and pensions without interruption.
Instead, under President Poroshenko, a complete transport and economic blockade of these territories was announced. Conditions have been created that make it almost impossible to receive pensions and benefits; to do this, you need to cross the contact line, there are huge queues, older people can hardly endure this test, and many other obstacles that are well known.
And when Russia, in order for these people to have the opportunity to at least somehow be socially protected, announced that they would be able to receive Russian passports in a simplified manner, there was a noise that Russia was undermining the Minsk agreements, etc., etc. .P.
Nobody remembers that passports are issued to their compatriots living in Ukraine; Hungarians, Romanians, Poles have been doing this for many, many years, and no one has any questions about this,” he noted.
Lavrov also emphasized that Kyiv categorically does not want to implement the full roadmap of the Minsk agreements, instead abandoning some points and offering something of its own in relation to others.
“One more thing. Kyiv categorically does not want to ensure the sequence of steps that is written in the Minsk agreements. It says: “The disengagement of forces and means, at the same time the adoption of a law on amnesty for all participants in this internal Ukrainian conflict, at the same time, the beginning of direct negotiations between Kiev, Donetsk and Lugansk on preparations for holding elections, the adoption of a law on the special status of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, consolidation this status in the Constitution of Ukraine, and after that holding elections, forming government bodies in these territories, after which Kiev restores full control along the entire length of the border with the Russian Federation,” this is the sequence.
They are now telling us, as you heard from Kyiv, Zelensky’s team: “There will be no direct dialogue, let’s create the Normandy format, and let’s also invite the Americans and the British, or even invite the Poles who show interest, amnesty can be discussed, elections can only be held when the entire territory of this part of Donbass will be occupied by thousands and thousands of UN peacekeepers armed with heavy weapons, and so on and so forth,” the Russian Foreign Minister accused Kiev of fraud.
