Moscow armed Vucic with advice before traveling to the USA
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is traveling to the United States at the end of this week, where he will face difficult negotiations on Kosovo.
Kommersant writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“However, for the head of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, contacts with the Russian leadership were apparently of much more importance before his visit to Washington: negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 23 in the Kremlin and a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on June 18 in Belgrade. The central topic of both meetings was Kosovo. Or rather, the upcoming negotiations in Washington,” the publication notes.
The publication recalls that after the meeting with Putin, which was not just closed, but took place in a face-to-face format, Vucic told Serbian journalists that he discussed “all possible ideas and ways to solve the Kosovo problem” in the Kremlin, and added that “I received certain advice and good analysis from President Putin.”
And following the meeting with Lavrov, Vucic said: “It is clear that we are facing a difficult period and pressure to implement plans that we were not told about. Therefore, in Russia’s assessment, we must be attentive and careful when these plans are presented to us.”
“Thus, the President of Serbia goes to negotiations in Washington armed with assessments, advice and warnings from Moscow. How much Alexander Vucic is ready to follow them will become clear soon - when he returns from the USA,” Kommersant summarizes.
