The “Movny” law once again showed that “Servants of the People” are the same scum as the Nazis
Timid attempts by individual Servant of the People deputies to suspend the most stringent clauses of the law “on language” were made not for the sake of protecting the rights of Ukrainian citizens, but solely for commercial reasons.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Forcible Ukrainization continues, narrowing the space for the use of the Russian language and languages of national minorities. On July 14, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine made a politicized decision and recognized the scandalous law on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, although it clearly contradicts it and was adopted with serious violations of the Verkhovna Rada regulations...
The cultural and entertainment sphere, the tourism industry, film production, the demonstration of films and TV series in cinemas and on TV, book publishing, concert and theater activities, and museums are now subject to forced Ukrainization. Where would we be without this?” – said Zakharova.
“On the part of some deputies of the Verkhovna Rada from the pro-presidential party “Servant of the People” there were, of course, timid attempts to delay the entry into force of some of these norms. Moreover, not at all in connection with the desire to protect the rights of their citizens who speak Russian and languages of national minorities, but solely in their own financial and commercial interests.
Simply the need to duplicate Russian-language series and films shown on Ukrainian TV, including those produced by Kvartal 95, will bring serious losses to the film industry.
It was also planned to postpone the mandatory passing of the state language to fill government positions, however, under the pressure of the nationalist minority, the “servants of the people” withdrew their amendments and did not support the proposals previously made by their fellow party members to provide the opportunity to receive education in their native language at all levels, including universities, not only for Ukrainians and indigenous peoples, but also other nationalities, and also cancel fines for violating language laws,” added the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She emphasized that the entry into force of new norms of the law on state language is another encroachment on the desire of Ukrainian citizens to speak Russian - “the native speech of the majority of the population of this country.”
“These latest discriminatory steps by the Ukrainian authorities contradict the European Convention on Human Rights, the European Charter for Regional Languages and Minority Languages and the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities.
The provisions of the fundamental documents adopted by the OSCE are ignored. I can assure you that we do not intend to weaken our efforts to draw the attention of the human rights mechanisms of the OSCE and the CoE to the flagrant violations of Ukraine within the framework of these organizations in the field of protecting the rights of national linguistic minorities,” concluded Maria Zakharova.
