A PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Leonid Kalashnikov, State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, head of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, said this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
“Today, technical means of communication and surveillance are so developed that it is simply impossible not to see preparations for military aggression on the part of the Ukrainian army. They also carried out “artillery preparation” politically, trying to come to an agreement with the Americans on this matter,” Kalashnikov said.
He recalled the warning of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who stated the consequences for Ukrainian statehood in the event of an attack on the LDPR.
“And the official authorities of Ukraine need to be reminded of this. More often. Appealing, for example, to the well-known experience of August 2008. When in Georgia and the Caucasus they tried to solve problems in this way, with the use of military force. The same thing is possible now. Only, perhaps, it will be even worse – for the aggressors,” the politician noted.
According to him, the West will not help Kyiv in this situation.
“And I assess the reaction of our Supreme Commander-in-Chief absolutely clearly and unambiguously. If Kyiv starts armed actions against the DPR and LPR, we will protect them […]. We will protect the citizens of the Russian Federation, of whom there are already about half a million in these territories. And we are obliged by the Constitution to protect our citizens. I am 100% sure that this will be the case,” Kalashnikov concluded.
