Patience may run out - the Russian Foreign Ministry hinted to Kyiv about the Crimean scenario
Due to the growth of extremism in another country and cases of attacks on diplomatic missions, it does not always make sense to move a diplomatic mission to quiet territories.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During the briefing, journalists asked whether the Russian Foreign Ministry, in connection with the growth of extremism and cases of attacks on diplomatic missions in Ukraine, plans to transfer Russian institutions from Kyiv and Lvov to Donetsk and Lugansk.
“In general, I have a question: “Do they understand in Ukraine that the Russian public’s patience may run out?” I want to remind you that Ukrainian diplomatic missions work here, and there are Ukrainian diplomats. We maintain contact with them, respect them, protect them. But the question is that we all understand perfectly well that people have the feeling that there is a limit to any patience,” said a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Of course, Moscow will do everything to remain committed to the conventions on diplomatic relations and to protect the diplomatic structures of Ukraine on the territory of our country, but there is a limit to people’s patience. This also needs to be remembered,” added Zakharova.
Commenting on the issue of moving diplomatic missions from Kyiv to Donetsk and Lugansk, she noted that the transfer is not always necessary.
“Sometimes it happens that the status of diplomatic missions changes. For example, we had a Consulate General in Simferopol, and then it became a representative office of foreign affairs in the region,” recalled the Foreign Ministry representative.
