“It could have been shot down”: A Ukrainian military helicopter invaded the territory of Belarus
A Ukrainian military helicopter Mi-8 violated the state border of Belarus on Saturday. At an altitude of 100 m, it flew to a depth of 1 km into the territory of a neighboring state.
This was reported by the State Border Committee of Belarus, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The agency publishes a video of a Ukrainian helicopter flying over a highway in the Mozyr area, lined with cargo trucks.
The Ukrainian side was informed about the incident, but denies it.
Assistant to the head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andrey Demchenko admitted that since November 23, the Polesie exercises have been held on the border with Belarus. Aviation and drones are used during the maneuvers, but, he claims, there was no actual border crossing.
“What the Belarusian side said today is not true,” Demchenko said.
“So you should at least watch the video and not disgrace yourself,” Belarusian journalist Lyudmila Gladkaya responded to this statement.
“Well, that means it was possible to shoot down,” TV journalist Grigory Azarenok wrote in his Telegram channel.
Belarusian military analyst Alexander Ivanovsky believes that this is exactly the reaction of the border guards that the Ukrainian provocateurs sought.
“This is a gross violation of airspace. It seems to me that our neighbors do not have enough economic sanctions. They have come close to the line beyond which our enemy is trying to add military-political rigidity. That is, to create conditions for almost military intervention. They are practically leading us to an emergency situation. They expect that a shot will be fired, and they will try to dodge, create interference so that the helicopter will be hit (it is protected by certain systems). The appearance of a helicopter from Ukraine is the least expected direction,” Ivatovsky said in an interview with the YouTube channel “Glavny. Tour".
