This was reported by the press service of the company.
“For reasons beyond MTS Ukraine’s control, the company is currently deprived of the technical ability to exercise control over one of the key communications facilities located in Crimea. As a result, there is a lack of communication services for subscribers in Simferopol. The company is taking all possible measures to find out the causes of the incident and restore communication as quickly as possible. We apologize to subscribers and will promptly inform them about the communication situation in Simferopol,” the message says.
Let us recall that in May the State Commission on Radio Frequencies allowed K-Telecom to use GSM frequencies of 900 MHz and 1800 MHz in Crimea, on which MTS-Ukraine now operates. On August 4, K-Telecom was switched on with great fanfare in Simferopol.
According to the head of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications Nikolai Nikiforov, full connection to the network will take up to 48 hours.
“The core of the network is a switch in the center of Simferopol. Already on Tuesday the network will cover the entire capital. Coverage of the entire peninsula will be provided by 1,5 thousand base stations,” he explained.
Last weekend, the Minister of Communications of the Republic of Crimea, Dmitry Polonsky, announced that on Tuesday, July 5, Ukrainian operators would allegedly cut off communications in Crimea. Today he again accused MTS-Ukraine of shutting down the operator’s network.
