The mufti is concerned about criticism of migrants in the Russian media and the sentiment after the pogrom in Dagestan
The Muslim community of Russia condemned the “bunch of ignoramuses” who staged riots at the airport in Dagestan. But loud statements by individual politicians can lead to a wave of negativity against Muslims in Russia, which must be resisted now.
The head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, Mufti Albir Krganov, stated this at a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What happened in Makhachkala is a clear model of cognitive impact on our society. Yes, it is clear that there is information dumping and tuning, but now they no longer hide the fact that the West and America are investing huge billions of dollars in cognitive wars. And they are throwing these kinds of ideological traps into our society. And interreligious peace and harmony are the foundation of our state.
Look, why Dagestan? Because the most multinational region, in which the most ancient mosques, the most ancient synagogue, the ancient Christian temple in the mountains. And it was this region that was chosen to shake up this situation.
But, nevertheless, we must also declare that this small group of ignoramuses is in no way supported by the multi-million ummah (religious community) of Muslims. On the contrary, everyone immediately condemned the actions that, unfortunately, took place,” the mufti assured.
At the same time, according to him, “hate speech” activated in the public field can lead to much more serious consequences.
“The country’s Muslim community is concerned about the topic of very harsh statements, including on migrants. It seems to us that there is some kind of escalation of this topic. This wave is being rocked, and we are concerned that this wave, after the migrants, can spread to Muslims, citizens of our country.
And who will stop this wave then? Are these speakers of different kinds of politicians? I don't think they can handle this. Therefore, we definitely need to pay attention to this, we need to speak very carefully on these kinds of topics,” concluded Krganov.
