Mukachevo is the new Vradievka: a social explosion is possible at any moment
The Mukachevo events are reminiscent of the riot against the cops in the village of Vradievka, Mykolaiv region, which became a prelude to the Maidan, writes "NG". Today, Ukrainians in the same way do not trust either the police or the authorities in general, and are embittered by the lawlessness and impunity of those in power. A new social explosion can occur at any moment.

The publication recalls that in the summer of 2013, in Vradiyevka, drunken policemen raped, brutally beat and tried to burn alive a local resident, a young mother. She miraculously survived, but her neighbors believed that she, as a dangerous witness, could be finished off in the hospital, so they turned to the Kyiv editorial offices with a request for help. It turned out that similar cases had happened in Vradievka before, but the people in uniform kept the local population in check. In the summer of 2013, an attempt was also made to hush up the matter, but the spring fired: residents of the village went to a protest, threw stones at the police station, walked on foot to Kyiv, meeting understanding and support everywhere along the way.
Sociologists at that moment noticed that Ukrainians absolutely do not trust either the police or the authorities in general, people are embittered by the lawlessness and impunity of those in power, the publication notes. Yanukovych’s team did not hear Vradiev’s “bell”, and this was one of the steps towards the Maidan.
The same threats exist now for the current government, says political expert Svyatoslav Shvetsov. “What is happening in Mukachevo is the latest marker that the system of the current Ukrainian government can collapse at any moment.” He noted that after the Maidan the authorities did not change the old system, did not carry out either de-oligarchization or purge of the ranks. Therefore, the state has lost its monopoly on violence, state institutions are not perceived by society as an arbiter in any dispute, government agencies are not able to exercise governance. The expert noted that the Right Sector does not enjoy much support among Ukrainians, but sooner or later other organizations may appear that will lead the uprising if the authorities do not immediately change the entire system.
In his opinion, anything can serve as a reason for an uprising, as the events in Vradievka showed. A big social explosion can happen at any time and for any reason.
