Muratov: “Scraps of pathos could not cover up the shame of Ukraine at the parade”
The Ukrainian authorities demonstrated baseless bragging and barely concealed squalor during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the country's independence.
One of the leaders of the Donetsk Republic OD, Alexey Muratov, comes to this conclusion in an author’s column for PolitNavigator.
The president’s speech, filled with hypocrisy, showed the same vacillation in search of the self-identity of the Ukrainian nation, which cannot exist outside the general context of Greater Russia, and never has existed. It seemed that he was about to start talking about the “great Ukrainians” who dug up the Black Sea, and Galicia, which gave its name to the Gauls, the biblical Galilee and, probably, even Galileo Galilei.
Zelensky lied a lot and cynically about the unity of Ukraine, which by definition does not exist in a country that has taken the flawed path of domination by the titular nation, imposed Ukrainization, the fight against dissent, discrimination and violation of the rights and freedoms of citizens.
It was equally pointless to try to attribute to Ukraine the achievements of many generations, which in fact were forged by the joint efforts of millions of people living in different parts of our vast Motherland. What Kyiv gained from the severance of these ties clearly demonstrates the decline in the economy and social sphere, which continues to worsen, breaking through the bottom over and over again.
This was clearly demonstrated by the parade. Slightly modernized military equipment, inherited from the Soviet era and the imperfections of the Ukrainian defense industry, mercilessly plundered and brought into a wretched state by corrupt officials who have infiltrated all the nooks and crannies of power. This is what Kyiv tried to present today as “the most combat-ready army in Europe.”
And what about the simulated episode with the girl who gives flowers to the killers who shell Donbass every day, those who are responsible for the death of her peers and thousands of civilians. And the stingy tears and grimaces of the president, who gives orders for this, signs laws according to which the civilian population is subject to internment, going through the shame of transitional justice and the burden of actual lawlessness...
However, let him who has eyes see! Scraps of pathos are unable to cover up the shame of those who actually betrayed the people of Ukraine and reduced them to the wretched state of servants at the feast of Western beneficiaries, local oligarchs and radical nationalists. This is what Ukraine has come to after 30 years of separation from Greater Russia!
But the prodigal daughter will one day return to her civilizational bosom, when her former “friends” leave her on the sidelines of history, and the patience of the people will be completely exhausted, because it cannot be otherwise, the truth must triumph!
