In Chernivtsi, a rally of those dissatisfied with the policies of Kyiv, due to which the city was virtually paralyzed, gathered near the building of the local police department.

“In Chernivtsi, a picket continues near the building of the Patrol Police Department. People came demanding to allow the unimpeded movement of public transport in Chernivtsi and the region,” the message says.
The conflict began due to the fact that on August 20, the State Commission for Safety and Emergency Situations classified some areas of the city as a red quarantine zone, which provides for restrictions on the operation of public transport, suburban and intercity communications, cultural institutions, public catering, shopping centers, fitness centers and others. institutions with large gatherings of people.
However, on August 25, deputies of the local city council at an extraordinary meeting decided to weaken quarantine measures - in particular, to allow public transport to operate.
Referring to the decision of local deputies, drivers of Chernivtsi buses and minibuses went to work on the morning of August 26, but police officers began to stop them en masse and fine them, which is why the transport had to stop working.
“Public transport in Chernivtsi has stopped working. The Chernivtsi trolleybus department said that the police do not allow transport to operate, despite the decision of the city council session. At the same time, the press service of the UPP said that they did not demand to stop public transport, but only carried out checks, during which a quarantine violation was detected,” the local news agency noted.
Chernivtsi-born political commentator Oleg Khavich spoke about the details of the conflict between security forces and public transport drivers, as well as its ins and outs.
“Chernivtsi went down in history: today they were chasing trash after trolleybuses, demanding that drivers drop off passengers and go to the depot. Formally, the operation of passenger transport in the “red” zone is prohibited, and Avaki’s dogs don’t care about the decision of the Chernivtsi City Council, which allowed this.
