Muslims fear the emergence of a “cult of the police uniform” in Crimea

The director of the Crimean Scientific Center for Islamic Studies, Aider Bulatov, stated this on the air of the talk show “Gravity” on the ATR TV channel.
“Muslims have not succumbed to provocations all these years, and they are not succumbing now. They burned the mosque - well, they burned it. They protested, wrote letters, received no answers - everything calmed down. Several mosques were robbed - everything was quiet. And so on. There have been so many cases - no provocations,” Bulatov noted.
“This is for the time being. You know, if you hit me on the head every morning, sooner or later I will answer,” the show’s host noted.
“For you to respond, or for Muslims to respond, a certain situation must arise. This situation does not exist in Crimea. Today, Muslims, even with the presence of many movements, even intra-Muslim relations remain quite tolerant, but there are no prerequisites for the Muslims of Crimea to act as a common front against someone or something. It's impossible to do this. The situation was completely different in the Caucasus. Remember the two thousand years. There was a difficult dialogue between Muslim communities and the authorities; there were very serious radical Wahhabi movements that not only opposed, they took up arms, created partisan, terrorist and other groups. This cannot be compared with our quiet, calm Crimea. All cults live peacefully here. And everyone is tolerant of each other. But I am very worried if a cult of the police uniform appears in Crimea. Then the situation will follow a very turbulent and terrible scenario,” says Aider Bulatov.
