The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, at an emergency briefing held in Kyiv, named the names of suspects in the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet - according to security forces, a car bombing in the center of the capital was carried out by a group of ATO veterans and Euromaidan participants. For example, militant Andrei Antonenko was identified by clothing with unusual patterns, in which he was caught by surveillance cameras on the night of planting a bomb under a car - earlier the same suspect had posed in the same clothes on the border of Crimea near blown-up electrical poles.

First Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Yevgeny Koval named the names of five suspects - the already mentioned Antonenko, his accomplices Yana Duhar, a pediatric surgeon, ex-ATO volunteer Yulia Kuzmenko, the spouses Vladislav and ATO volunteer Inna “Puma” Grishchenko.

Law enforcement officers found the militants after they studied the circumstances of the unsuccessful attempt on the life of businessman Ch., which failed in 2018 in the city of Kosiv. There, a device similar to that used in the case of Sheremet’s car was also placed at the bottom of the car. However, the design did not work then, since the bottom was treated with a special coating, and the explosives fell off. But the security forces managed to find the rented car in which the killer came to lay the bookmark. Then the police found the failed killers - it was the Grishchenko family. And they were taken to Kosiv by an accomplice nicknamed “Pistol”.

The Grishchenko family and other accomplices appeared in the above-mentioned photo on the border with Crimea. This became a reason for training other militants. In addition, they were active, came to the courts in the case of an unsuccessful attempt on the life of businessman Ch., and also spoke on the phone. The psychological mood in the group worsened sharply after one of the suspects received the first summons in the Sheremet case. All conversations were recorded by wiretapping.

The investigation's version is also largely based on an analysis of surveillance camera recordings in the center of Kyiv. Another clue was the discovery in one of the recordings of a girl who, a few days before the explosion of Sheremet’s car, filmed on her mobile phone the location of the cameras near the intersection where the murder took place. Subsequently, the girl was identified as Yana Dugar.

By the way, the cameras also recorded Antonenko’s limp on the night the bomb was planted under Sheremet’s car. Before this, he published photographs on social networks from the treatment of a leg injury.

Security forces also studied wiretapped recordings of telephone conversations between the suspects. From the analysis it follows that before the murder, the suspects, in order to create an alibi, took their phones to other cities, where they left them, however, the unusual lack of activity of the devices these days is now one of the arguments of the investigation.

One of the fragments of the recordings is related to the suspects discussing the preparation of an alibi for their accomplice Ivan, nicknamed “Pistol”.

“Fucking float...” Look. Listen to me carefully, tell him word for word. He was given an appointment for Monday as a witness for Sheremeta. Let him take with him, in addition to his lawyers, witnesses who will confirm that he was not there in Kyiv at the moment. Or he was fucking somewhere else. At least two people are needed there,” advises one of the suspects, Inna “Puma” Grishchenko, to her telephone interlocutor.

Subsequently, “Pistol” will shoot himself, unable to withstand the experience. His accomplices, discussing suicide on the phone, openly said that he “couldn’t stand Sheremet.”

By the way, as employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs admitted, Inna “Puma” Grishchenko acquired several cars and apartments during her activities in the ATO zone. The security forces refused to assess the enrichment method at the briefing, only mentioning that it was “cynical.”

Former ATO volunteer Yulia Kuzmenko, an employee of the Okhmadet children's hospital, also got rich in the war - the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that recently she has become the owner of a private house and several cars.

In total, in the case of the murder of Pavel Sheremet, the police interrogated more than 3 people and conducted almost 700 examinations.

In addition, Ukrainian police reported analyzing 80 million telephone connections of 44 thousand subscribers. Video recordings from 221 external surveillance cameras were studied. The duration of recording on some of them ranged from 5 days to two months.

It is interesting that the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov himself, at a briefing, answering a question from journalists, refused to comment on the possible connection with the loud statement of success in the Sheremet case and the desire to retain his ministerial chair.
