Kyiv, February 20 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - The Ministry of Internal Affairs officially announced the start of issuing military weapons to police officers serving in Kyiv.

“The truce has been broken, extremists continue to attack. As part of the work of the Anti-Terrorism Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, I signed the relevant orders - law enforcement officers have been issued military weapons and they will be used in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On the Police,” said the head of the department, Vitaly Zakharchenko.
“Not only law enforcement officers are dying on the streets, but also civilians. Pogroms began in Kyiv and in the western region of the state. Criminals destroy everything around them, seize institutions and shops, set fire to cars, administrative and residential buildings.
Right Sector leaders are inciting people to arm themselves and seize government institutions.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs demands that extremists voluntarily surrender their weapons and return to the framework of peaceful protest. And leaders and representatives of the opposition who are able to soberly assess the situation should disassociate themselves from the radicals and not support them further.
The police are an armed body of executive power, and the law allows the use of force, special equipment and weapons. And there is not a single democratic country where the police structure would show such restraint and tolerance.
But the task of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is to maintain the rule of law, and the police are able to restore order and tranquility in the state,” the law enforcement officers promised.
