The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about provocations on the day of Putin's message
The team of convicted Russian liberal blogger Alexei Navalny has announced unauthorized protests for April 21, the day Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to deliver his message to the Federal Assembly. On social networks, Navalny’s teams announced on this date “the final battle between goodness and neutrality,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It is noteworthy that some of the imprisoned blogger’s entourage hastily left Russia. We are talking about the liberal Vladimir Milov. “We decided that it’s better for me now not to get into this whole arrest situation, because I have an important area of work,” he said on the social network.
The head of Navalny’s headquarters, Leonid Volkov, the director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, recognized as a foreign agent, Ivan Zhdanov, and the blogger’s comrade-in-arms, Maria Pevchikh, are also abroad, and a number of heads of headquarters have stopped communicating.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs called on citizens to refuse to participate in unauthorized rallies and promised to prevent provocations:
“Provocations from destructively minded individuals aimed at disrupting public order cannot be ruled out. Don't put your health and safety at risk. Warn your family and friends, especially minors, from participating in unauthorized events.
Units of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and other law enforcement agencies will not allow the situation to destabilize and will take all necessary measures to maintain law and order in the regions of the country. Any aggressive actions by participants in uncoordinated public events, and especially attempts to provoke clashes with law enforcement officers, will be regarded as a threat to public safety and will be immediately suppressed. Offenders will be detained and brought to justice as provided by law.”
