Advisor to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Zoryan Shkiryak stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.
The first to be filed in court will be indictments for the events that took place in the area of Greek Square. There are 24 people involved in the case.
The suspects are charged with Part 2 of Art. 294 (mass riots that led to the death of people - from eight to fifteen years of imprisonment) and Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons - from two to five years of imprisonment) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Nine more suspects are being sought.
Earlier, representatives of law enforcement agencies reported that a total of 114 people were declared suspected of organizing and participating in mass riots (in the city center and in the Kulikovo Field area), 13 of whom were kept in custody.
As PolyNavigator reported, according to official data, the fire in the House of Trade Unions killed 48 people. The public and eyewitnesses of the tragedy seriously criticize these figures, as well as the objectivity of the investigation. Note that most of the suspects in the case are Anti-Maidan supporters.
