Moscow - Kyiv, February 12 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - IMF Director Christine Lagarde will make a statement on financial assistance to Ukraine on Thursday in Brussels. This was reported in the office of the head of the IMF, reports “Vedomosti”. According to the publication, the IMF and Ukraine are close to signing an agreement on the provision of financial assistance.

The IMF last year opened a two-year loan program for Ukraine worth $17,1 billion. Of this amount, Kyiv received 4,6 billion already in 2014, the remaining funds should be allocated in 2015.
Earlier, Reuters, citing its sources, reported that the G40 countries and the IMF are discussing increasing the volume of assistance to Ukraine to $17 billion. This amount includes the already existing IMF assistance program for Ukraine in the amount of $XNUMX billion.
Today, a statement is expected from Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk following negotiations with the IMF mission, which has been working in Ukraine over the past weeks.
