The IMF told Ukraine who should be appointed to the NBU instead of Gontareva
The International Monetary Fund advises the Ukrainian government to appoint a professional capable of continuing reform of the banking sector to the post of head of the National Bank of Ukraine.

This was stated by the IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Jerome Vache, reports Reuters.
In addition, the fund positively assessed the activities of Valeria Gontareva as head of the National Bank.
“The chairman of the board should be commended for the progress she has made in strengthening the NBU as a professional and independent institution, cleaning up the banking system and prudently managing monetary policy, success in reducing inflation and restoring reserves,” Vasche said.
