“The IMF sees everything”: Ukraine steals many times more than it asks to borrow – expert
Those who at the beginning of the year advised Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to rely on IMF loans instead of negotiating debt restructuring are either fools or criminals.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on air on the 112 TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Regardless of whether the IMF gives us these loans and we balance payments related to external debt obligations this year, or whether we have to completely twist our trouser legs and declare a technical default, because there just simply isn’t enough money, it doesn’t matter, because To date, no non-crisis economic policy has been developed.
Everyone can see that the Ukrainian government is simply behaving like a schoolboy who has 15 kopecks in his pocket for a pie, and he doesn’t know whether to buy a pie, or to pay off the debts that he incurred before. But what is worth paying attention to is that Ukraine, do you think, has no resources other than money? How are we doing with the Amber Republic? – recalled Ermolaev.
“Losses from twists, losses from cashing out, not to mention customs, are of such a magnitude that we are simply ashamed to ask, because our creditors see us.
Do you think they don’t have this data on the right side, how much Ukraine steals from itself, distributes to oligarchs, washes away along its borders, exports abroad, then the bailiff comes and asks: give me ten billion, three billion from what you stole? four, because we have to pay you the interest this year.
“I believe and have always believed that the one who advised Zelensky at the beginning of the year to rely on IMF loans instead of negotiating debt restructuring is either a fool or a person with criminal intentions,” the expert added.
