This statement was made by First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF David Lipton.
“First of all, it is important for Ukraine to follow the reform plan and reach an agreement with us regarding the next revision... The main thing now is whether Ukraine can strengthen stabilization and move on to economic growth that will allow the country to solve its problems. This is the most important issue, it’s not time to think about elections,” he said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
According to a survey by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the Razumkov Center, at the beginning of June 2017, almost half of Ukrainians (48%) supported the idea of dissolving parliament and calling new elections to the Verkhovna Rada, 34% did not support this idea.
In March, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that early parliamentary elections would jeopardize economic growth and reforms in Ukraine.
