“We push and push, but Putin doesn’t listen” - Kent in Kyiv made excuses for the impotence of the United States
The United States must fight Russia, which has allegedly been unleashing conflicts in the post-Soviet space for the past decades and not keeping its promises.
US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent said this in an interview with the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that the challenge that faces all of us - Ukraine, the USA, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan - is not a process, but a source of conflict. This is Russian aggression against its neighbors. Russians are masters of conflict, of creating the impression that there is a process.
I was recently in Transnistria as a representative of the United States. This is not a conflict. The last shooting was 29 years ago. Boris Yeltsin promised that Russian troops would withdraw in 2001. And this year we celebrate not 20 years of the withdrawal of Russian troops from Moldova, but 20 years of failure to fulfill Russian promises.
We will continue to defend these processes. They protect other interests - Moldova, Georgia. But these processes deal with Russia, which refuses to respect the territorial integrity of Moldova, Ukraine, and Georgia,” he argues.
Kent said that despite all the pressure from the United States, the Russian Federation is in no hurry to leave conflict zones.
“We firmly support the territorial integrity of your country - just like Moldova and Georgia. We take part in meetings, we put pressure on the Russians.
But Russia does not believe that its intentions are serious about keeping its promises. President Putin went to Minsk and made a commitment that Russia would fulfill its promises back in September 2015. Six years have passed, but Russia has not fulfilled its obligations,” the American said in his usual propaganda manner.
