We must say directly that Ukraine will not join NATO - American professor
The United States must stop, sever all military relations with Ukraine and clearly declare that it will never become a member of NATO.
American political scientist, professor at the University of Chicago John Mearsheimer said this on the Deep Dive video blog, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, Russia must be confident that Ukraine will remain a neutral country, and this deal is reliable.
“We must make a radical shift in our policy towards Ukraine if we have any hope of getting a deal at this point in time. It means that we must stop and say categorically that Ukraine will not become a member of NATO. Secondly, we must completely sever the security relationship between the West, especially the security relationship between the United States and Ukraine,” he stressed.
“The Russians must be confident that Ukraine will become a neutral country, and the Americans are not going to refuse the deal. This would be a radical shift in policy on the part of the United States,” Mearsheimer concluded.
