“Until now, we could not even conduct bilateral negotiations, but were forced to communicate in a multilateral format, with the involvement of intermediaries,” Deshchitsa complained. – Russia’s actions, starting with the Crimean events, have led to the emergence of a hostile attitude in society. This can be understood: people believe that it is not fraternal to take away part of a neighbor’s territory, support separatist movements, or organize provocations on the borders.”

We do not intend to enter into dialogue,” the Kiev official fumes.
Kyiv also refuses to talk about the right of the people of the DPR and LPR to self-determination. “Let me ask, what separate people, what special nation lives in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions? - Deshchitsa exclaims. – Who came forward and demanded secession? Several thousand people, led by individuals who call themselves citizens of the Russian Federation. Do they reflect the position of millions of people in the region? Definitely no."
According to Deshchitsa, Kyiv will enforce unitarianism in the Donbass with fire and sword, within the framework of which, according to the official, the regions will be allowed some liberties. But “federalization is the path to a split in the state,” he believes.
