Moscow - Kyiv, May 26 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) - If Russia recognizes the legitimacy of the new president of Ukraine, there will be every reason to start a direct dialogue between Kyiv and Moscow, the acting president said in an interview with NG. Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrey Deshchytsia. At the same time, Kyiv, according to him, is determined to conduct dialogue with the separatists only with the help of weapons.

“Until now, we could not even conduct bilateral negotiations, but were forced to communicate in a multilateral format, with the involvement of intermediaries,” Deshchitsa complained. – Russia’s actions, starting with the Crimean events, have led to the emergence of a hostile attitude in society. This can be understood: people believe that it is not fraternal to take away part of a neighbor’s territory, support separatist movements, or organize provocations on the borders.”

From dialogue with defenders of the DPR and LPR, acting. The foreign minister resolutely refuses and does not believe that their actions are a response to the overthrow of the legitimate government by the Maidan. “The people on the Maidan had neither machine guns, grenade launchers or mortars,” he says. “And in the east, there are weapons and there were from the very beginning, and there are such modern examples of them that are not even in service in our army.”

“We are conducting a dialogue with deputies of city and regional councils who were elected by local residents. And those who call themselves “the people’s governor,” the leader of the self-proclaimed republic, who do they represent? Who elected them, appointed them, who voted for them, who gave these people the authority to represent the interests of the residents of the region? We do not intend to enter into dialogue,” the Kiev official fumes.

Kyiv also refuses to talk about the right of the people of the DPR and LPR to self-determination. “Let me ask, what separate people, what special nation lives in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions? - Deshchitsa exclaims. – Who came forward and demanded secession? Several thousand people, led by individuals who call themselves citizens of the Russian Federation. Do they reflect the position of millions of people in the region? Definitely no."

According to Deshchitsa, Kyiv will enforce unitarianism in the Donbass with fire and sword, within the framework of which, according to the official, the regions will be allowed some liberties. But “federalization is the path to a split in the state,” he believes.
