“We are facing bullets, but they don’t even give us a salary,” ambulance workers in Mariupol go on strike

Mariupol, August 22 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – In Mariupol, emergency medical workers were not paid wages for July and advance payments for August.

This was reported by the portal “0629” with reference to an ambulance worker.

“It’s impossible to live without our service, but no one pays us a salary,” said the emergency doctor, adding that he and his wife work in this service. In addition, he noted that in recent months he had to travel to the ATO zone several times.

“We are driving under bullets, risking our lives, and we are not paid our salaries. We're already on edge. If we don’t get the money, we will go on strike,” the doctor said.

The delay in wages is due to the fact that the treasury does not work in Donetsk. Ambulance and a number of other structures that are financed from the regional budget cannot receive salaries.

Reportedly, the money was supposed to be paid to doctors on August 6 and 20. The day before, city mayor Yuriy Khotlubey held a meeting at which he voiced the words of the governor of the Donetsk region, Sergei Taruta. He, in turn, promised to transfer the treasury from Donetsk to Mariupol on August 22 so that it could continue its work here.

The press service of the Mariupol City Council refused to comment on this situation, since the region deals with the payment of wages for ambulance doctors, and therefore this problem has nothing to do with the city.
