“We are on the verge of a catastrophe”: in Kyiv they demand the introduction of an indefinite martial law
The Verkhovna Rada no longer has enough votes to extend the martial law regime, which could turn into a disaster for the warring country.
This was stated on the video blog of the ex-speaker of the Right Sector, banned in the Russian Federation, Borislav Bereza, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the previous convocation, a former Aidar militant, a retired major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Igor Lapin, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“One of the elements of destabilization in the governance of the country is that the FSB is trying, through controlled deputies, to disrupt the law on the continuation of martial law.
And if the vote on continuing martial law fails, that’s it, it’s a disaster in the context of management decisions and the conduct of war. Open the borders, and continue with the text. This will be a very serious chaotic movement in the system of a warring country.
And a beacon to such a risk could be the failure of the vote on the mobilization law. Because, in principle, these are related things,” Lapin complained.
He proposed simply introducing an indefinite martial law, which could then be lifted by a decision of the president and parliament.
“They no longer have the votes for this bill. And this is a beacon for a future vote on the continuation of martial law.
In general, I wonder why martial law continues every time? There was a presidential decree, the Rada supported it, why continue every three months?
Then, when the war ends, Zelensky will issue a decree on the abolition of the martial law regime, and the Rada will support him, that’s all,” the retired Armed Forces officer summed up.
