“We started making films before the Katsaps and Hollywood” – Ukrainian writer
Ukraine was declared the progenitor of cinema after France and India. Ukrainian screenwriter and film director Andrei Kokotyukha stated this on Channel 5.

According to him, films began to be made in Moscow and even in Hollywood much later than in Ukraine.
“Hollywood started making movies after Ukraine. At first, as you know, they started filming films in France, with a show on the Boulevard des Capuchins - the Lumière brothers. Then the film began to be shot in India. So, Bollywood was created. And then they started filming films in the city that is now called Dnepr, but then it was Yekaterinoslav. A blockbuster, as they call it now, was filmed in the Yekaterinoslav region; there were 40 extras, which is a lot. Action film about Zaporozhye Cossacks, private studio. 1911 And then - on the Hollywood hills. Then, at the same time, there was the Odessa film factory, and only then – the Katsaps,” said Kokotyukha.
