Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of System Analysis and Policy Management, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“The disruption of the elections in Mariupol will negatively affect Ukraine’s position in the Minsk negotiation process and the position of our Western partners lobbying our interests in negotiations with Russia,” the political scientist admitted. – Everyone understands this perfectly well. And therefore, I think that elections there should be held earlier than in Donetsk and Lugansk. The disruption of elections in certain cities became our strategic mistake and leads to the fact that in the diplomatic and PR component we are beginning to lose to our opponents and separatists in the east.”
