“We are not a proxy for the United States, don’t talk about it”: Podolyak refused to admit the obvious
The division of Ukraine according to the scenario of Korea or post-war Germany is impossible.
At least, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, is sure of this.
On air on the ICTV channel, he gave chaotic evidence of why Ukraine cannot be divided, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There was a fundamental difference between the GDR and the FRG, between our situation and theirs. Because the Democratic Republic of Germany and the Federal Republic of Germany, they were built not as a result of the war as such, because the war had already ended with the loss of Nazi Germany, but as a result of the fact that one part went to the Warsaw Pact, conditional, and the other went to NATO. But it was voluntary between them. Personally, there was no war as such between the part and the second part,” the official said.
“We have a different situation, we were attacked by a specific large country with one goal - to destroy the statehood of Ukraine. Therefore, any demarcation line will mean an operational-tactical pause before the next stage. This is worse, it is not at all similar to our situation.
Let me explain: in Korea there were, again, North Korea and South Korea. One people, civil war. These were proxies of the Soviet Union, these were proxies of the United States. We are not a proxy, don’t talk about it, don’t confuse it. We are not a proxy, we are a sovereign state,” Podolyak assures.
