“We have not forgotten about Kharkov, Odessa, Kherson and Dnepropetrovsk” - head of the DPR
Many Ukrainian citizens are hostages of the situation and cannot be considered enemies of Donbass.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin stated this in an interview with the News Front news agency, answering the question whether reconciliation and peaceful coexistence is possible, if not with the current Kiev government, then with Ukraine and those people who live there every day perceive the propaganda they are fed.
“Every year it will become more and more difficult to do this. When the Minsk agreements were signed in 2014, they essentially spelled out how we should coexist. And whether we like it or not, the rest of Ukraine is not going anywhere. And we, no matter how much Ukraine wants, are not going anywhere either. Therefore, we needed to decide the rules of how we will coexist, provided that people do not die on either side. Before the start of the ATO, before the start of the killings, the use of aviation, tanks, artillery, this was much easier to do,” said Pushilin.
“This is exactly what we came out with, so that we could be heard,” added the politician. – We stated that we do not agree with the coup d’etat in Kyiv, we do not agree that the Russian language is being taken away from us, that the attitude towards the Great Patriotic War is changing; that is, those landmarks with which we lived are erased, and the loss of which we are not ready to accept. But let's talk about how we will coexist. Back then in 2014 it was easier. And now every year it becomes more and more difficult. We’ll see what this will lead to.”
The head of the DPR emphasized that Donbass did not list Ukrainian citizens as enemies.
“Many of them are hostages of the situation, and we are well aware of this. In particular, the hostage of the situation, first of all, is that part of Donbass, which for now, temporarily, I really count on it, remains under the control of Ukraine. But don’t forget about other cities and regions: Kharkov, Odessa, Kherson, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye. We have not forgotten about them and are not going to forget. As well as the fact that our resources are still limited, and certain “red lines” on the part of Ukraine have not yet been passed. But this is all temporary,” Pushilin concluded.
