We are surrounded. There is nothing to protect yourself from Russia - strategist Poroshenko
Despite the concentration of Russian troops on the Ukrainian border, Moscow will not invade Ukraine.
The director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, subordinate to the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Gorbulin, stated this in an interview with “Left Bank”, answering the question whether Putin is preparing an attack on Ukraine.
“Russia’s military presence has long been increased. At one time alone, there were about 9 thousand Russians in Donbass, then – 7,5 thousand, and now – 2,9 thousand, and that’s only Russians. There are about 30 thousand well-armed troops in Crimea. You know, I don’t think that Crimea will be a trigger. It is unpleasant to have an “underbelly” in relation to the Zaporozhye, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk and Kherson regions. But I don’t think that war will start,” Gorbulin believes.
“It is absolutely true that Russia is increasing its military presence. We have actually been surrounded for a long time. Plus, do not forget that 18 bridgeheads are located along the perimeter, on which the 4th and 6th aviation armies are present. And for Ukraine, it is not so much the Russian Iskander that is scary - in missile terms, Russia has an absolute advantage. Therefore, we have nothing to defend ourselves with. But such a likely attack on Ukraine will lead to a new world war. I think Putin won’t agree to this,” Gorbulin hopes.
