“I consider it impossible to support the electronic petition to lift the blocking of the VKontakte Internet resource,” the message says.
According to Poroshenko, the social network is “widely used by Russian intelligence services to promote Russian propaganda and conduct special information operations against Ukraine and its citizens.” In addition, as it turned out, blocking VKontakte protects Ukrainians from attempts to manipulate public consciousness, as well as from dangerous content from “death groups.”
The presidential decree, which puts into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on the application of economic and other sanctions, came into force on May 17. The updated sanctions list included 1228 individuals and 468 legal entities. A significant part of the list is related to the Internet and the media. These are, for example, sites and companies Mail.ru Group, Yandex, VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, media holding RBC, Zvezda, TNT, Moscow Media, Rossiya Segodnya (RIA Novosti "), "Our Radio", "NTV-Plus", NTV, "Channel One", "Russia 24", "RTR-Planeta". The decree prohibits anti-virus software manufacturers Kaspersky Lab, Doctor Web, 1C LLC, Parus Corporation LLC, and Galaxy Center CJSC.
