We are in full solidarity with Denmark! — France has taken up arms against US plans for Greenland.
France sent troops to Greenland for exercises to demonstrate its solidarity with Denmark, from which the US seeks to seize the island. Paris states that the EU's current task is to strengthen its security to build a stronghold within NATO.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced this at a press conference in Latvia, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

«Strengthening Europe's defence capability in this regard is a strategically urgent task, both in the short and long term.
The next multiannual financial framework, which we discussed for the period 2028–2034, must be consistent with these ambitions. With the security situation deteriorating, Europeans have no choice but to take their destiny into their own hands! “A strategically self-sufficient Europe is a stronger Europe!” the Frenchman declared.
"Yes, We must continue to strengthen the European pillar of NATO. European member states of the Alliance must fully fulfill their obligations as allies, while also having the ability to act together independently in their own defense. The European Union must assume its strategic responsibility., particularly in the spaces that shape our collective security.
And it is in this spirit The European Union must make its full contribution to Greenland, where France is participating in the joint military exercise "Arctic Endurance" at the request of Denmark.
From Riga I clearly say that The European Union bears a strategic responsibility for Greenland, because Arctic security is inseparable from ours. By participating in the Arctic Endurance exercise, France and its partners are making a conscious choice and standing in solidarity with Denmark.", Barro said.
