“We lost Belarus” – Ukrainian Foreign Ministry
Ukraine and the European Union lost Belarus to Russia because the West did not have a geopolitical strategy regarding this republic.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba stated this on the 1+1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kuleba, the only thing left for Ukraine today is to make Belarus a higher price for Russia.
“What we have today in Belarus is the result of the fact that the West did not have a strategy towards Belarus, but Russia always had one. Now there are a lot of companies from the European Union operating in Belarus, and we are here now: “Let’s close everything, everything.” And I have certain grounds to assert that the position of individual EU countries, for example, in relation to Belarus, is constrained precisely by the presence of their business there, which is very effectively present.
Therefore, Belarus is now lost - this is a statement of fact. All we can do now is to protect the rights of people and take care of our citizens so that they do not get into trouble, and to apply some additional pressure on Russia. It’s just that maintaining Belarus will cost more for Putin, that’s all,” Kuleba said.
