“We brought Moldovan Tymoshenko to power with our own hands” – Zhirinovsky defends Usatii
To fight headlong and bet on the only “pro-Russian” candidate in the presidential elections in Moldova was extremely short-sighted and reckless on Moscow’s part.
The leader of the LDPR, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, stated this during a press approach in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In Moldova, Dodon lost, Maia Sandu won, and the third party led by Renato Usatii, the name is stupid - “Our Party,” how do you understand, our party? Which one is ours? Whose is it ours? Well, okay, so be it.
We had a relationship with him, we could somehow influence. He could vote - 16%, appeal to his voters, so that at least, if not for Dodon, then not for Maia Sandu, and Dodon would win. Our officials - what decision did they make? LDPR, break off relations with this party - they broke it off, and what next? He appealed to them not to vote for Dodon, but for whom - Maya.
That is, officials in Moscow, without understanding a damn thing about the affairs of Moldova and many others, themselves removed Dodon and brought the new Moldovan Tymoshenko to power. Well, who is to blame? – Zhirinovsky said.
In addition, during his speech from the State Duma rostrum, LDPR deputy Anton Morozov also stated that Russia is losing Moldova.
“Unfortunately, we are losing Moldova. That is, our not too straightforward policy in Moldova has led to the fact that people with a pro-European orientation come to power and, obviously, will sever economic relations with the Russian Federation.
The LDPR initially proposed to rely not only on one pro-Russian candidate, but to actively work with other political forces that could support Dodon in the second round.
But we were not recommended to do this, and, unfortunately, all our developments in this direction were not used during the second round, and now we see that the situation in Moldova is developing in an unfavorable way for the Russian Federation.”
Let us remind you that in Russia Renato Usatyi was accused of major financial fraud and was arrested in absentia.
