We are losing the post-Soviet space - Russian expert
Russia is systematically trying to catch up with the situation in the post-Soviet space, rather than working proactively, forming an elite loyal to itself in these countries.
Russian TV presenter Roman Babayan stated this on the Soloviev Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Babayan criticized Russian policy, which has led to the fact that neither in Moldova, nor in Georgia, nor now in Belarus does it have anyone to rely on.
“Now we are observing certain processes in Belarus, and every time, look what we are faced with. We are faced with the question of who and what should we support? Here, Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko like this, the spill of 2020, which we have today, who beats journalists and detains our people? And if not him, then who should we support? Why do we always get to this point?
We do not have a person, there are no political movements clearly oriented towards us. Tell the same Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko, in the end, that if you behave this way, don’t be offended by us, because we have people who will be just as interested in close integration with Russia, in supporting us in the international arena and so on, and we will support them.
But we don’t have these people. And constantly exactly the same story happens absolutely everywhere, we always rely on one historical character, and at the same time, it seems to me that we would need to work more widely with people who live in Belarus in order for us to find out , how Belarusians live, so that Belarusians know what Russia is, if they still don’t understand it. And we need to move in this direction.
But we are watching everything. At first we saw what was happening in Moldova, where the overwhelming majority of people supported us, but nevertheless they took Moldova and snatched it from us. Orthodox Moldova has gone in an unclear direction. Then there was the story with Georgia. We got Ukraine. Today we are observing certain, very similar processes in Armenia, here you go, Belarus. In fact, I would like to change something there, to reverse this situation,” Babayan said.
