“We will not participate in the anti-church sludge” - press secretary of the UOC
The Kiev authorities are not going to create any autocephaly, they just want to destroy the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The press secretary of the UOC Vasily Anisimov stated this on air on the Zik channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are now in some kind of cauldron of slander and inadequacy, which, by the way, is also heard here. The Moscow Patriarchate is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The UOC is the oldest part of the Russian Orthodox Church, born in Kiev, and the Moscow Patriarchate is the second name of the Russian Orthodox Church, because when they tell us here that we are Moscow, but they seem to be not... Why don’t you call the Uniates the Roman Patriarchate and force them to to say that they are foreigners, although they are the same Ukrainian people. Secondly, we see a completely inadequate attitude towards the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and in general we see that Soviet totalitarianism is returning in full,” Anisimov noted.
“Sergei Govorun has nothing to sacrifice. He is a wandering archimandrite, he has nothing behind his soul. Could he be the patriarch? Of course it can. They can give the tomos to him, or to anyone else, if such a bacchanalia has already started: “Get together, everyone, and I myself will decide which of you to give it to.” This is generally a discreditation of all Orthodoxy,” the press secretary is sure.
“I am deeply convinced that our government does not want to create anything. She just wants to destroy the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, because it doesn’t bend or break. If it were like our splits - what the authorities said, then they would quickly start doing everything, but not like that,” he explained.
“Moscow refuses? Patriarch Bartholomew until recently was in communion with our church. We and they constitute one body of Christ, the Ecumenical Orthodox Church. So, in order to do something, you need to negotiate with us, and not with deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, not with politicians and not with the president of our state,” he noted.
“Whatever the cathedral will be, whether Govorun or our deputies will be present there, the Uniates have already declared that all prohibited people and violators of discipline will go to this church. They want to make anti-church crap. We will not participate in this,” he concluded.
