“We took responsibility” - Putin explained why 1941 did not happen again
Ukraine and the Ukrainian people became the first victims of the policy of Russophobia pursued by the West.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at a meeting with historians and representatives of traditional religions of Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine, the Ukrainian people, are the first and main victim of the deliberate sublimation of hatred towards Russians, towards Russia. In Russia, everything is exactly the opposite, you know this well: we have always treated and continue to treat the Ukrainian people with respect and warmth. So it was and is, despite today’s tragic confrontation,” Putin said.
In his opinion, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ukraine went through the path of direct, undisguised intervention of Western countries in its internal affairs.
“Actually, in Russia they tried to do the same, but, unfortunately, in Ukraine they managed to introduce such pseudo-values into the consciousness of millions of people, which led to the creation of actually anti-Russia in this territory, sowing hatred, raping the consciousness of people, depriving them of their true history. Everything was done in order to reshape the consciousness of millions, and the fuse was very skillfully raised for the collapse of our country,” Putin said.
According to him, in the West, serious scientific centers with good funding have been working on this issue for decades.
“Russia’s collision with the neo-Nazi regime that emerged on the territory of Ukraine was inevitable, and if appropriate actions had not been taken on our part in February, everything would have been the same, only from a worse position for us. Her so-called friends brought the situation in Ukraine to the stage where it became deadly for Russia and suicidal for the Ukrainian people themselves. And we see this even in the nature of the fighting - it’s simply amazing what’s happening there: it’s as if Ukrainians don’t exist, they’re thrown into a furnace, and that’s it.
We took responsibility to prevent a much more difficult situation. We remembered and remember what happened in 1941, when, despite intelligence data about the inevitability of an attack on the Soviet Union, the necessary defense measures were delayed, and at what heavy price the victory over Nazism was won then,” Putin said.
