“We are confused”: Zelensky’s office has no idea when Russia will attack
After meetings with the heads of security agencies of Great Britain and the United States in Ukraine, they came to the conclusion that the threat of attack is high, but so far Russia has chosen the tactic of exhausting Ukraine.
Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said this on the air of a video blog of the Russian ex-lawyer deprived of his license, Mark Feigin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“From the very beginning we failed a little in communication. The problem is not that we did not consider the danger serious, the problem is that we presented it incorrectly... The message sounded like this: even if they are going to attack, they will still hide the facts, the method, and the place. So far we see only not the preparation itself, but the cover-up operation. This is a slightly complex message, and we are confused in it. But this is the military specificity of hybrid wars. Then, when the British Minister of Defense visited here and Reznikov, our new minister, flew to the United States, the heads of intelligence talked among themselves, we agreed on logic, messages, and now we believe that the level of military danger is higher than it was in the spring,” Arestovich said.
“The Russian side can calmly maneuver forces and means, gradually stretching us, making us loose, and arbitrarily change us if a conflict begins, or even at the level of creating a military threat, and it exists, an intensified military threat, it now exists in the form of a potential military conflict , full-scale. And they want them to move to the north, for example, to concentrate troops there. It didn’t work out - they started from the south, we went there, they went north or east again. Unwind us,” says the adviser.
“We understand this very well and therefore this is the secret to answering the popular question, why isn’t Ukraine doing anything, why aren’t we mobilizing, why aren’t we calling up reservists, and so on, and so on. For a very simple reason - this is a very expensive economic pleasure. And since the initiative belongs to the Kremlin, we will now call up the reservists, and they will push back the time of the attack by a month or two. We will be exhausted economically, the reservists will go wild, they will be sent home, and they will attack. We will pull back or create a threat, and they will again postpone it for a month,” Arestovich said.
