“We waited and prepared,” Nayem about attacks on railway infrastructure
Ukraine was preparing for attacks on its railway infrastructure and developed alternative routes for the delivery of military cargo. Advisor to the Minister of Infrastructure Mustafa Nayem stated this on air on the ICTV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Nayem boasted that Ukraine is quickly restoring traction substations and railway tracks damaged as a result of airstrikes, and is also running trains on other routes.
“Work is progressing quite quickly to restore the operation of these substations. Some substations are already operating in power supply mode. This is not to say that they are operating normally, but they are supplying electricity.
There are stations that will be impossible to restore quickly, this must be recognized. But I want to say that this does not stop the movement of trains now. Moreover, we have alternative routes - we were prepared for this to happen a long time ago; there are alternative options for trains to continue moving. There are routes, different ways to ensure that we do not stop the movement of convoys and cargo, both civilian and military,” Nayem said.
