Czech President Miloš Zeman was elected by direct democratic vote for the first time in the history of the Czech Republic. The people chose him. In addition to the fact that Zeman is trying to protect the economic interests of the state, advocates for a referendum on membership in the European Union, he is the only head of state within the EU who openly supports Moscow on the issue of sanctions and, in the opinion of many in the Czech Republic are “friends with Putin.”
Zeeman also demonstrates support for Moscow’s situational partner, Beijing.
