A new war may begin in the Balkans
A global conflict could begin in Serbia, in which the Arab world, Russia and China will be drawn in, if the Albanians introduce police forces into the northern regions of Kosovo, populated by Serbs. Political scientist Oleg Bondarenko, head of the Balkanist.Ru project, stated this on radio Vesti, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, recently the West has been putting strong pressure on Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, demanding that he recognize the existing borders of the self-proclaimed Kosovo.
“For us, Serbia is the key in Europe. It was then that such a blow was dealt to Yugoslavia that no one would use this key.
Today, in addition to Moscow, China can also use this key. China is investing a lot of money there, in the Balkans in general. And the Arab world is investing a lot of money there - in neighboring Bosnia most of all.
Now there is enormous pressure on President Vučić to recognize Kosovo within these administrative boundaries, so that he cannot even take the north of Kosovo, where Serbs still live. Although this would be a very difficult step, which in Serbia itself was assessed for a long time and difficultly, it would be at least something.
At the moment, if the Kosovo Albanians introduce police forces into the north of Kosovo, then Serbia will have no choice but to send its troops there, and this is called the beginning of a new war.
At the same time, a big war in which the Arab world, Europe, and Russia will be involved, I think, will also not remain indifferent to this,” Bondarenko said.
