At a debate at the Ministry of Defense they decided: it’s time for Russia to attack

It’s time for Russia to move from defense to ideological offensive in response to the West’s information campaign to denigrate the historical role of the Russian state, which, in particular, is manifested in the rewriting of the history of the Great Patriotic War.

This was stated by political scientist Sergei Karaganov during a round table on the topic “Psychological defense. The fight for history is the fight for the future,” which was held under the auspices of the International Military-Technical Forum “Army 2020.”

“It’s better to attack, especially since in the current global and domestic situation we have enormous opportunities for, among other things, an ideological offensive,” Karaganov said.

He explained that there was a good moment for such an offensive by Russia - just as communism collapsed in its time, now the West is becoming disillusioned with liberalism.

“There is a struggle between conditional transnationals and nationals, of which the majority, which we, for some reason, are not trying to lead. Finally, we are the world's main supplier, which we don't talk about either. And even more importantly, by depriving the West of the ability to dictate its terms, which it had enjoyed for almost 500 years, we freed the world from the conditional Western yoke. We don't use that either. You just need to not defend yourself, but attack, while fighting back when necessary,” Karaganov noted.

“Today history is a battlefield. History is not just a set of facts, but a worldview, an ideology,” agreed Advisor to the Minister of Defense Andrei Ilnitsky.

“The work against the Russian Federation is carried out consistently and systematically. Today we are no longer surprised at all by attacks on the country, on our leader. Today, the information struggle against us, against our country, has acquired new features and forms,” recalled famous radio host Anna Shafran.

“We are not just being corrected in some way all the time, we are simply being changed. A country that is non-violent towards or towards the transmission of its way of life to others today, in the second half of the 20th century, in the 21st century, is accused of doing just that. Our successes are the subject of attack by our opponents. At the same time, we never allow ourselves to do this,” emphasized First Deputy Defense Minister Ruslan Tsalikov.

However, according to his data, there are cases when Western propaganda within the Russian Federation itself does not work - for example, a campaign to discredit the Armed Forces, fortunately, turned out to be a failure. “In recent years, a positive image of the army has formed in society. The numbers speak for themselves. The people believed in their army,” Tsalikov said.

This is confirmed by the growing popularity of military educational institutions. One of the most important tasks is solved here - the proper education of young people. And it is not at all necessary that in the future, college graduates will connect their entire lives with the army - they can realize themselves in other areas, but with the right “hardening”.

“Come to any Suvorov military school and look at the way of life of its students. We have a huge number of additional education programs and a countless number of sections - everything for the harmonious development of the individual. We do not force anyone to enter military schools. Actors, directors, painters, composers, diplomats, and, of course, the military elite are represented by our students. Real citizens of the country grow up here,” said Deputy Head of the Military Department, State Secretary Nikolai Pankov.

“Even when sociological research was conducted on the amendments in April, May, and so on, the amendment that we are against falsification of history was supported by more than 90 percent of people. This was one of the most popular amendments that people voted for. Because the processes of falsification of history are constantly going on, people are tired of it and they want it to end. Therefore, the struggle for history is very important and such round tables are very important,” political scientist Oleg Matveychev told PolitNavigator.
