The excitement among the townspeople who came to celebrate City Day was caused by a 250-kilogram two-tier giant cake, decorated with marzipan and cream Cossacks and Cossack women, figures of Zaporozhye fountains, the city “Lovers' Hours” and other local objects.
“We prepared the cake for the Cossacks for several days, 15 hours a day. Its production required 100 kg of sugar, 50 kg of flour, 50 kg of condensed milk, 7 hundred eggs, 4 kg of jam. We prepared it for so long and diligently, and it was eaten in the blink of an eye,” said confectioner at a local confectionery factory, Julia Bregeda.
The Cossacks sold out the cake, designed to serve 2,5 thousand holiday guests, in a few minutes. The police had difficulty holding back the pressure of the hungry.
